Trisomy 21 and C-Spine

Trisomy 21 is associated with multiple system abnormalities; one is laxity of the cervical vertebral ligaments.  While X-rays can detect this, the significance is  unclear.  Subluxation of C1-C2 is no more likely to occur than during other activities.  Neither radiological nor neurosurgical consultation is  needed unless symptoms are present.
